Coonoor - Kothagiri Trip

Places : Coonoor , Kothagiri , Hogenakkal.
Dates : 25, 26, 27 Mar 2005
People : Megarajan, sivasu , balasundar , durai , Omni Balaji , Vijayan , Yehiya , Loose Mohan , Sengu

So somehow a discussion of a trip started trickling among mails and I proposed that Coonoor could be a good place as HCL guest house was already there. After some initial crowd pulling the strength of members who were ready to come to the trip hovered around 10 with fears of some members dropping down always lingering there. Durai had booked train tickets for 6 Persons who had given confirmations from Chennai to Coimbatore . We were all set to go by train for our trip .

On the week we were about to start ,Vijayan gave the idea we can always hire a Tempo and travel in it rather by train. So he booked a tempo traveller after some initial fears of backpains and night travel from the members. On the day we were about to start I packed my things and came to Office to start directly from office. But in the hurry burry I forgot my nice little Kodak KB-10 .At evening 8.15 Yehiya came to pick me up and we went to Kodambakkam . In the meantime vijayan had come there with the van . On first sight the van looked fine and this impression didnt change during the trip also . So we started on our trip and we had to pickup everybody else on the way .

Sengu , Balasundar , Durai and Sivasu boarded in Vadapalani with Durai intentionally starting late and making others wait . The person who was irritated most by this was Omni who had been waiting in Kathipura Junction for almost an hour .He was the one who had been asking "Will we go , Would we go , Are all coming , Arent we dropping the tour ? , If he doesnt come , I wont come" and all sorts of questions .

He seemed to be believing that this tour wont happen from the beginning . He simply could not believe that we could go to a tour somehow . Kudos for his belief in his friends. After picking up Omni at Kathipura , we headed straight down south .We had a light supper in the chengelput bypass road . In the meantime one of my other friends , loose , had started from Bangalore to join us at salem . We were supposed to pick him up at salem at 2.00 A.M but we entered salem only around 6.00 .After picking him up we had tea opposite the Vinayaga Missions Hospital in the sangagiri road . About an hour after we entered our college IRTT in Vasavi , to drop the 2 juniors who had boarded our van in Madras .

After taking a photo outside our Final Year hostel and everybody singing their own versions of Nyabagam Varuthe .... we proceeded to our destination , coonoor. We went thru Chithode, Perundurai , Avinashi and Mettupalayam . Upon reaching Mettupalayam , we had our breakfast opposite Black Thunder Theme park. Curiously ,2 persons , sengu and omni decided that they would not eat unless they brush their teeth . 3 1/2 years of dull ordinary life had changed them . But others proceeded unmindful of this. They didnt realise that this was a stupid decision they took. After finishing our breakfast we started climbing the Queen of the Nilgiris. After passing the village burliyar we reached Coonoor. Meanwhile sengu started feeling hungry and was very eager to find a room asap. On the way from Mettupalayam to Coonoor was the Law falls which we saw from the van. When we thought that we can see it and then proceed , omni interrupted and said that we will first take a room , bath and then we will see places . This drived half of us to nuts and we missed seeing it. We cautioned Omni that he is allowed to make mistakes but he should stop at one per day .

Upon reaching Coonoor , we called the YWCA at coonoor and asked for the availability of rooms. I was not aware that YWCA will allow gents also and mentioned that we were 9 gents, but since they didnt care whether we were gents or not , we confirmed a dormitory containing 9 beds. Sivasu , wanted a TV to keep himself updated of the Test match between India and pakistan. When asked about a TV , we got the reply that the Dorm didnt contain a TV .Sivasu was very much disappointed by this .I envisioned a long line of beds in a square room , but the greatest of surprises awaited us when we entered YWCA in upper coonoor. The YWCA building was a British built building of atleast 100 years old and looked like a stately old mansion. It looked obviously out of place for us . After our initial aah-aahs and ooh-oohs .. we were led to the first floor of the building and entered the dorm . The dorm itself looked big with two rows of beds having 5 and 4 beds . Though the light was not enough to fill up the entire room , it was a well maintained one . We congratulated ourselves on finding a good place to stay and the cost at 700 per day for 9 persons being the cheapest added to the effect .After Refreshing ourselves one by one , we proceeded to start our sight seeing . We first decided that we will see all places near Coonoor on the first day .

Let me tell something about the location of Coonoor .Coonoor is a hill station on the way to the much famous OOTY . Coonoor was touted to be a nice little hill station still unspoilt by tourists . After this trip, I would believe that it is true.

The places we had in mind were

1. Sims Park
2. Dolphins Nose
3. Lambs Rock
4. Law falls
5. St. Catherines Waterfalls
6. Elk falls
7. Katteri falls
8. Kodanad Viewpoint
9. Lady Cannings Seat
10. Rangaswamy Pillar and Peak

We proceeeded to Lambs Rock first.

Lambs Rock:
This place is a view point from which you can see the surrounding hills and was named Lambs Rock not because it was shaped like a lamb but bcos the path was laid by a British Officer named Lamb. It gave us a spectacular view of the Bakasuran malai and the plains down the hills. We bought huge amount
of tea of various varieties here . We proceeded next to Dolhins Nose.

Dolphins Nose .
You might say that this place was named so bcos the path to it was laid by a british Officer named Dolphin . But its not so. It was named
so bcos it looks like a dolphin nose . This is also a viewpoint offering a view of the Catherine Falls in Kothagiri .

Sims Park .
Sims Park is a natural park containing many varieties of exotic flowers and trees. We saw a tree named Elephant tree and the trunk of the
tree looked like an elephants leg . There was a playground for children , a glass house , and a lake for boating here in this park .While others
were playing , me , omni and durai went for boating . And we really enjoyed the boating .

Day 2 :

On the Second day , we had planned to see the places in and around Kothagiri . This would include

1. Kodanad Viewpoint
2. St. Catherines Waterfalls
3. Elk falls

Wellington :

Wellington was a place which was not initially in our plan. But this came up due to the persistent bothering of Mohanraj. So we finally
went there and what a place it turned out to be. It was an army establishment complete with defence quarters , officers mess , a golf course etc.
There was also the Wellington War Memorial in memory of the persons, graduated from this academy, who died in various wars.

We had a small walk in Wellington and the walk was really a joy.

I had posed for this nice photo in wellington.

The Model Airplane in Wellington

There was also a golf course nearby which had a fantastic layout. It was a golf course which had many layers to it , so that one can put the ball from the topmost layer to the next one down.

Kodanad Viewpoint :
The kodanad viewpoint is in kothagiri inside the Kodanad Tea Estates. This is a really awesome view point offering a good view of the plains below. From here we were able to see the Bhavani sagar Dam and the moyar river flowing thru the mountains.

The peak which you see in the right corner of the above photo is Rangaswamy Peak.

The path through the Tea Estates itself was a very enjoyable one. After spending sometime at the viewpoint , we proceeded downhill to Coonoor.
On the way we had sighted yet another Tea Estate , the Alderley Estates.

We wandered in the Alderley Estates enjoying the nicely maintained lawns and oonjals. The estate can be taken for rent for a sum of 3000 Per day .
You can have a look at the imposing view of the Alderley Estates in the below photo.

Then we entered the Brooklands Tea Estates , where we had a brief demo of the process by which Tea was made and how it was classified into the various grades available in the market.

Inside the Tea Estates

On our way to Coonoor we went to the Beulah Farm , a farmhouse selling homemade jams and homemade wine . All of us entered the farm and gave the owner a shock .

All of us got to taste many varieties of homemade jam and homemade wine.
The varieties available in Jams were Strawberry Jam ,Rhubarb Jam , and Marrow .
There was many varieties in wine of which the ones I remember are Tulsi , Plain , Mint , Garlic etc...

Bcos of this we had a new found "kudikaaran" in our team . He even took photo outside the place where he started drinking wine .

The Evening we spent at SIMS Park , and a nice little evening it turned out to be. Some of us were playing with the ball and some of us just looking at the beautiful visitors of Coonoor.

But Yehiya was the one who was doling out punch dialogues by the dozen all with an impeccable timing. One of his punch dialogues I remember now is "(somebody) ..was working as a temporary , awaiting permanency , but EXPERIENCED ." . If someone remembers any of the other dialogues he told , pls add that as a comment.

Finally , after deciding that we have had enough of Coonoor , though I felt that we could have stayed the next day also , we proceeded to Hogenekkal .

Tirupati Trip

Place : Tirupati
Dates : 5,6 March 2005
People : Megarajan,Gopi alias yanai , Sivakumar alias meesai , Joshi

One fine day Gopi was mentioning that he was going to Tirupati with his roommates and was looking out for places to see in and around Tirupati to see ..
As a good boy fond of travelling , I told him that he need not worry , when I am there since I will be coming with him. Yaamirukka Bayam en ... ?

We started in Chennai from the Koyambedu Bus stand. We gave a healthy start to the trip by having hot Aavin milk first. After fighting some time to which bus to board , either a APSRTC or SETC , we decided it would be SETC , as good tamilians. Next I know was that I was in Tirupathi , sometime around 2.00 or 2.30 A.M .

We went to the Railway station from there and got our Sudharsana tickets tied to our hands. Then we went tophill to Tirumala and after discussing various options for staying and 1 hour of small time quarrel we decided to stay in the Cottage provided by the Tirupathi Devasthanam. There are NO private staying lodges in Tirumala.

We went to our Cottages and after planning out our trip which essentially was everybody telling their own views , we decided to sleep till afternoon that day and to have all our sight seeing for next day .

Our time for getting Darshan of the God was 2.00 P.M and we were able to get a darshan of God by 4.30 P.M .

In between I got separated from my friends and my friends say this bcos I was always looking at other beautiful tourists of Tirupathi. Anyway , I broadcasted all over Tirumala that I got last and was waiting for my friends. After the broadcast I located my friends almost immediately .

We roamed here and there for sometime and had our dinner at Hotel Annapoorna .

After spending some time at one of the parks in Tirumala , We came back to our cottages by 9.30 P.M and had a nice sleep that night.

The Next Day Morning , we had to go on sight seeing . As a good guide , I told them about the places we have to visit and were looking for a jeep .

The places we had in mind were

1. Srivari Paathulu
2. Sila Thoranam
3. Chakra Theertham
4. Sanctum Sanctorum View point
5. Agasa Ganga
6. Papavinasanam
7. Venugopalswamy temple
8. Gogarbham Dam

We hopped on to one of the free buses plying in Tirumala and reached the main road and took a jeep for our trip.

Srivari Paathalu :

This place is supposed to be the first place where God put his foot in Earth when he came from Heaven before settling at the present place in the Temple .
This is the topmost point in the Seven hills of Tirupathi makes it even more scenic and gorgeous .

The view from the Srivaari Paathalu was breathtaking and beautiful .

The pine forests on the way to Srivaari Paathalu

Sila Thoranam :

This place is a Natural Rock formation supposed to be 2000 Million Years old .
The rocks in this place are shaped in the forms of Chakra ,Sangu, Garuda the compatriots of Vishnu who resides in the Seven hills.

The Thoranam

The ASI warning in front of the Sila Thoranam

There was a small number of animals also being bred in sila thoranam. There were peacocks , Pigeons , Parrots and Rabbits...

Chakra Theertham :

The Chakra theertham is situated near the Sila thoranam and a temple with Swayambu lingam is present here.
The theertham with water can be viewed at

The Rock in the Chakra Theertham

The view from the Chakra Theertham

Sanctum Sanctorum View point

This is a view point from where you can see the entire Temple with all its Asthana Mandapam , Garbhagriham , everything . It looked like a football stadium.

Akasa Ganga :

Akasa Ganga is a place having a devi temple and a nearby stream which is supposed to be divine.

PapaVinasanam :

Papavinasanam is a place where there is a dam situated and also a place to bath.
The dam is restricted to Visitors and one cannot enjoy a good bath here in the little stream of water that flows from the top.

VenuGopalSwamy Temple :

Venugopalswamy temple is the temple which was worshipped by an ardent Vishnu devotee , Hathiram babaji whose Samadhi can also be found nearby .

Gogarbham Dam :

Gogarbham Dam is on the way to Papavinasanam and has a beautiful view amidst the hills.

The windmills on Tirumala.

If you have patiently read this far , I appreciate your patience and would request you to see all photos of my tirupathi Trip at

Tirupathi in flickr

I would request you to visit all the places at Tirupati that I have mentioned .

There are other places that even I havent gone in Tirupathi. They are

1. Japali Theertham - a 2 KM trek
2. Thumburu Theertham

And many other theerthams in the hills ...

A weekend Gone sour

It was a good weekend to start with .I had plans to go for the tamil movie Kadhal with my friend senthil babu on saturday and to the movie Aitraaz with Sai .. It started just as any other weekend would . On Saturday , the day of Christmas , I woke up in my home as usual . After idling my time till 11.00 , I left my home for Satyam cineplex , where we have to see Kadhal.

The movie went nicely without any hiccups except the climax.
We could not believe the climax would be a real one , but it seems that there
are still people as good as the ones depicted in the movie , live on earth .

After we sat down , it was time to feast ourselves on the treat given by senthil babu . Can you guess what that could be .It was a quarter kg of Aavin Palcova , ( Milk Khoa for non-tamil-speaking audience.) It looked delicious even without opening as you can see it down.

After we finished our treat , ravi and senthil babu went to play in the beach . Me and kumaran did not move an inch and sat talking about the way malayalis live and their chracteristics .( For any malayalis reading this, the summary was that , though god has given them enough in environment , he hasnt given them much in their hearts.)

Senthil babu asked me to take a nice picture of him ( how difficult that would be ....) so that he can show the pictures while chatting to girls. The picture I took is below.

If you are a person with good eyesight , you would instantly
tell that the thing in grey looks bad in the combination with the thing in
Brown .:-)

So we packed on Saturday evening around 6.30 from

Sunday Morning , I woke up late and had a nice bath . When I
switched on the TV , it was shown that there was a earthquake in madras , and
buildings had slight tremors. But I did not hear anything as I was in deep
sleep.

I started around 11.00 to satyam theatre to check for
tickest for Aitraaz. No tickets were avail able even though it has
been runinng for 50 days now , that must be a good film to see . Hence I
returned from satyam theater and made my appearance at my office in
N.M Road

It was there I got the idea that I can go and see the Marina today to see how much it affected . Hence I proceeded from my office to marina .

I went to Ethiraj salai , people were looking down the
bridge over the river cooum . I did not understand why they were seeing the
drainage so earnestly .

After that I went to Wallajah road , the place where I had
been yesterday . It was very much different today . All the people in the town
were walking down Wallajah road , and towards beach . See below .

was turned away near the chepauk palace by the traffic
people .I then went via a shortcut to the road adjoining the chepauk grounds
.The people in the houses were looking with much awe . they havent seen these
many people and vehicles going thru their streets all these years .But today was a different day , isnt it ..Much different than anybody had seen in 50 years.

I finally parked my vehicle , a classic , red Sport , owned
by , only some good people with very good taste , in the whole of Madras.

I went to the marina , the sight there was nothing I had
seen in my entire life. Though marina was nothing new to lakhs of people ,
today all of them were in solemn mood , wondering what happened . To be said in
my friend Divakars way , it was Damage !! Total Damage !!

A damaged Gypy getting all the attention as though it was an
alien space craft directly descended from Space.

The next was the red omni which had been parked in the road
by somebody. But now it was parked in the middle of the beach by no one other
than Mother Nature .

dust bin that was never used ...being washed by nature .

was getting clean nowadays .. but it seems it was never liked by nature , so it put back all the debris in an hour , it would have taken days for humans to generate.

I have nothing to say about this. This is the remains of a
sari. Whether it was in use during the
calamity , I never know ...

People being chased by police men as though they are owners
of this place . they would never visit this side of the shore during normal
days.

Marina - this is a sight to remember . Marina will never be as calm as this on a sunday evening for years to come .

An helicopter surveying the happenings below it . As usual ,
they were just seeing from a more vantage point.

Have you seen the devils colour. See for yourself below . I
would say , The devil is Blue in Colour .

People searching for treasure deposited by Sea goddesses in
these fishing nets .

People searchin for treasure in these fishing nets .

As everyone was searching for something in the sea waters ,I wondered what it was , and I found the answer very soon .All of them were searching for the deposited by the sea the night before .I had collected lots of them in my child days , but it was long time I collected one .This was nature' way of making men do what it wants. So I started searching for a sangu in all the debris , there was , after some time I was able to get my hands on one . See below for my precious find . I went on to find another one after sometime ...

The connection between the sea and the shores .

The place where sea water entered the shores .

As time progressed , the waves increased in strength and
were in full flow . It was the starting of a " Pournami ( a full moon night ) and hence the waves were being aided by the moon .

It was visible as time progressed , and I was getting more
nervous as the time increased .

When my mother had said to return home early to take her to
temple , I was here on marina wandering alone . As thoughts of my family
returned after a long time , I made my way home.

Revolution OS - A Documentary on Linux

Revolution OS is a 2001 documentary which traces the history of GNU, Linux, and the open source and free software movements. It features several
interviews with prominent hackers and entrepreneurs (and
hackers-cum-entrepreneurs), including Richard Stallman, Michael
Tiemann, Linus Torvalds, Larry Augustin, Eric S. Raymond, Bruce Perens,
Frank Hecker and Brian Behlendorf.

The film begins in medias res with an IPO, and then sets the
historical stage by showing the beginnings of software development back
in the day when software was shared on paper tape for the price of the
paper itself. It then segues to Bill Gates's Open Letter to Hobbyists
in which he asks Computer Hobbyists to not share, but to buy software.
(This letter was written by Gates when Microsoft was still based in
Arizona and spelled "Micro-Soft".) Richard Stallman then explains how
and why he left the MIT Lab for Artificial Intelligence in order to
devote his life to the development of free software, as well as how he
started with the GNU project.

Linus Torvalds is interviewed on his development of the Linux
kernel as well as on the GNU/Linux naming controversy and Linux's
further evolution, including its commercialization.

Richard Stallman remarks on some of the ideological aspects of
open source vis-á-vis Communism and capitalism and well as on several
aspects of the development of GNU/Linux.

Michael Tiemann (interviewed in a desert) tells how he met
Stallman and got an early version of Stallman's GCC and founded Cygnus
Solutions.

Larry Augustin tells how he combined the resulting GNU
software and a normal PC to create a UNIX-like Workstation which cost
one third the price of a workstation by Sun Microsystems even though it
was three times as powerful. His narrative includes his early dealings
with venture capitalists, the eventual capitalization and
commodification of Linux for his own company, VA Linux, and ends with
its IPO.

Frank Hecker of Netscape tells how Netscape executives
released the source code for Netscape's browser, one of the signal
events which made Open Source a force to be reckoned with by business
executives, the mainstream media, and the public at large.

My First Online Purchase

I have never got a chance to use the Credit Card. I had it in my purse without using it for nearly 3 years.

I got a chance to use the credit card online when I decided to buy a subscription to "The Outlook Money" online.

Outlook Money seems to be a good investment to make and for 5 years it was only 1150 Rs.

And there was the online option also.

The online subscription form is at

http://203.200.89.96/sfa/newsubmoney.asp

Or you can go to http://outlookmoney.com/scripts/iih001c1.asp and go to the online subscription form.

You would have to select the options listed like , whether it is for yourself or a Gift Subscription and whether you want it delivered in India or abroad.

The payment option is by ICICI Payseal. The brand of ICICI made me buy it online.

I registered for a 5 year subscription which has a free gift of a Landline Handset also.

I started receiving the books and was waiting for the gift.

The gift took an unusually long time to arrive. 1 Month after the purchase.

Finally I believe it is an investment worth the money.

The marriage itself was at Vasavi Mahal in Cantonment , Trichy . The food was exceptionallyu good :-) as it was typical Brahmin Marriage , and I enjoyed all of it.

The photo at the right was the only one I took on that day , when the bride and bride groom were asked to sit in a "Oonjal"

I was hoping to meet my old IIT friends there in his marriage , but sadly very few , I know , turned up .

Motorola E398

Motorola E398
Originally uploaded by megarajan.
Friends,

For long , I was wanting to get myself a new mobile. My Existing piece, Motorola c650 was showing its limitations and I was getting bored with it. Though it was capable of doing what I wanted , there was little space in it , to do more .

The mobile itself had only 2 MB of memory , which will be capaable to hold a couple of mp3 ringtones, a couple of good photos . Whenever I went out on trips , I was limited by the number of photos I can store in it.

So I was looking at buying a Motorola E398 for a long time. The time for it came and I got it immediately.

The important features of Motorola E398 that distinguish it from other so called mobiles are :

1. VGA Camera
2. MP3 Player
3. Stereo Speakers
4. 64 MB Flash Card .

VGA Camera:

The quality of the pictures taken using the VGA Camera is an average one in the eyes of a die hard photo lover , but very good for on the spot photo sessions and when compared to other mobile cameras .

You can see some of the photos taken using the Motorola E398 here .

E398 Photos

MP3 Player

The MP3 Player allows you to play MP3 songs from the Trans Flash Card with a good quality .

You may like to hear that this is the only mobile with Stereo Speakers in the market. I havent heard of any other brand giving a Stereo speaker in a mobile.

Trans Flash Card

The 64 MB Trans Flash Card gives enough space to store photos , mp3 ringtones and a dozen good quality mp3 songs.

The things that are included in box are

Handset
Battery
Charger
Manual
CD with software
CD with Multimedia Content
USB-cable
Stereo headset
64 Mb memory card (TransFlash)

All of this comes at rock bottom prices , when compared with other brands.

The price of this Mobile as I write now is 11,500 K .

Go Get Yourself one !!!

Evil Gmail ..... ????

You all know that the Corporate philosophy of Google is "Do No Evil" , if you haven't known till now , you have known it now. :-)

A regular user of Google's products and an equal admirer of them , I recently had a bad taste of Google.

After using Yahoo Mail consistently for a very long time ( must be 4 years ), I recently shifted my loyalty to Gmail . All was going fine till one fine day.

Gmail has a list of supported browsers ( IE , Firefox and Netscape ). For the people at Google , browsers other than these ones dont exist at all in this world .

But sadly the fact is not so. I am a regular user of Opera and was very much sad at seeing it not being supported by Gmail .

But anyway I started using Gmail in Opera. After a statutory warning , I was able to see my Gmail account in Opera. I was using like this for some time. I got the same view , when I used IE or Firefox to access Gmail.

Suddenly one fine day , Gmail gave a warning that it was giving me a scaled down , HTML view , which had less features and crippled than the original view. I was never asked whether I would like this , or I was never told How I could change this behaviour to the old one...

This is something not befitting of Google and its Corporate Philosophy.
As a user of a not supported browser , I know that I may have some crashes , or unxepected bugs. But they simply cannot force me to use a browser which I dont like and for the simple reason that they have mentioned it as unsupported.

Gmail was working fine in my unsupported Opera and I simply could not take this forcing of usage.

Google has gone bad these days ...

The Indian Broad Gauge Dream

LocalTrain
Originally uploaded by megarajan.

All over the world many cities have intra-city trains or metro trains running. You can cite many examples such as Chennai, Calcutta , Delhi, Tokyo etc.

But since I havent visited all these places I cannot tell you about them all.
Let me tell about the experiences I have in my home city , Chennai , in the trains that traverse thru it .

Why Should you read about Trains in Chennai ?

Bcos Chennai was the one of the first city in India to catch on the Metro train concept ( I have no evidence for this , its only empirical ) and was the last city to give up on it.

Chennai was the last city in the whole World to still have Metre Gauge train running in it. The world did not like having Chennai this distinction and hence the Metre gauge train was Converted to Broad Gauge train in the year of 2004 .

Thus Chennai bade farewell to the transport which was responsible for the growth it had seen .

The last day the Metre gauge Train ran was an emotional experience for people who travel daily by it and was news for others. I made sure that I came to Office by train on that day. I know of a friend who travelled from Nungambakkam to Tambaram and came back , just to register the memory of the last experience.

What you see in the right is the new , shining , polished Broad Gauge train that runs now .

Its difficult to find a person in tamilnadu who does not like the works of Bala. He is the director of hit Tamil movies such as Sethu , Nanda and Pithamagan .

Though only 3 films old he has made a big mark in the highly competitive and highly creative tamil film industry.

Book Review :

In this book , Bala tells about his life , the path he came thru , the experiences he had, the mistakes he made . Everything is told in a bold , non-aggressive manner , which is very much likeable.

He puts forth his quest for understanding life and reason for doing things which otherwise a normal person would not like to do .

Some of the things he did include doping (ganja) among many other things.

But finally he found out what was in him and came to balu Mahendra to work as an assistant director.

From this point I lost interest as it was more of the workings of the film industry .

1. Must read for any person who wants to understand about creative persons.
2. Must read for any aspiring director .
3. Must read for any person who wants to succeed in life.

Ultimately his life proves that its not the mistakes that matter , but what you learn from them .

Dudes ,

Though Firefox is NOT my most favourite browser ( Opera is . I use Opera 8.0 beta now to post this )

I was happy at the progress Firefox has made in the short time .

I have a Firefox 0.93 installed in my PC and use it rarely to check my gmail account.

Hence I would like to let know all of you that Fire fox has crossed 25 Million downloads on Feb 15 and has made Nasty Bill to update his old IE .

Hey

I remember seeing the sun as a black specimen during the "grahanams" or eclipses .

This photo was clicked near the salty waters on way to mahabalipuram .

But this black one was due to my Motorola c650 .

The cycle you see in this picture was taken on Nelson Manickam Road just opposite my Office.

I dont know whether the "thing" this person rides will qualify for a cycle , but somehow this "thing" seems to look like a cycle :-) .

It has 2 wheels , 1 chain and pedals and apart from these things there are a number of things fitted onto this mean machine , the purpose of which I am not aware.

Anyway this looked like a interesting thing , hence cliked it right away .

Another view of this mean machine can be viewed at
